Lightsats wins 100 million Sats in the ‘Legends of Lightning’ competition.

Lightsats, a company that aims to simplify bitcoin gifting, won 100 million sats in the legends of lightning tournament.

The project was completed just weeks prior to the announcement of the ‘Legends of Lightning’ tournament.

Roland aka @rolznz, Juan Gomez, a bitcoin and Lightning enthusiast from Colombia, and Rene Aaron, a Lightning developer from Germany, are the project’s founders.

Aaron, a veteran of Bolf.fun tournaments, is also known for creating the lightning tip widget utilized on bitcoinnews.com.

Lightsats.com won 100 million satoshis, or one full bitcoin, as the champion of the global adoption track of the Legends of Lightning tournament.

The Legends of Lightning tournament was hosted by the bolt.fun community in an effort to support and challenge initiatives working to increase Lightning Network adoption globally. Over 70 distinct projects participated, and multiple prizes were awarded in two distinct project tracks.

Lightsats’ lightning voucher app, which aims to make it easier for users to gift satellites over the Lightning Network, impressed the judges. The application enables anyone to create a ‘gift’ or voucher and load it to any Lightning wallet.

In recent years, the use of the Lightning Network has increased significantly, as an increasing number of individuals seek quick and efficient ways to send and receive digital payments. The network is intended to be a peer-to-peer, decentralized payment system that eliminates the need for middlemen. This makes it suitable for micro- and small-scale transactions, as well as those that must be completed quickly.

The judges of the “Legends of Lightning” competition are all experts in the field, investors, technical individuals, or company founders who utilize the technology:

The Lightning Network has the potential to revolutionize how we view digital payments, and initiatives such as Lightsats are contributing to this transformation. By making it easier for merchants to accept payments over the Lightning Network, Lightsats is helping to accelerate the adoption of this technology among a broader audience.

The success of Lightsats in the Legends of Lightning tournament is evidence that innovative Lightning Network solutions are being developed. The company’s lightning vouchers are just one of the many innovative projects that are being developed to help bring this technology to more people around the world.

As the Lightning Network grows and evolves, it will be fascinating to see what other innovations and breakthroughs emerge from this innovative and progressive community.

While this tournament has been a resounding success in terms of the quantity and caliber of submissions, the next iteration is hoped to be held in 2023.

Website of the tournament:

“Welcome to Legends of Lightning, a new global online tournament for developers to learn, connect, collaborate, and create innovative applications and tools using bitcoin and lightning. Until December 7th, developers can accelerate their Bitcoin projects through design, development, and lightning integration mentoring. Makers can showcase their progress, activity, and updates as they #BuildInPublic, competing for up to $60,000 (3 BTC) in prizes.

BOLTFUN has partnered with a number of meetups, hackathons, and workshops to offer participants the chance to brainstorm, design, build, and accelerate their projects throughout the tournament. Whether your project is an open-source public good or a business you intend to launch, we want to promote its longevity and continued development. We’ve partnered with funding experts, such as VC firms like Fulgur Ventures and grant platforms like Geyser and Open Sats, to assist you in determining your next steps.

At the conclusion of the competition, our judges will evaluate all submitted projects. The best submissions from our two tracks (Global Adoption and Building for Africa) will advance to the semi-finals, where they will have the opportunity to refine and pitch their projects on demo day (6th December). We will then announce the winners of each individual race and the overall champions! Have you got what it takes to be lightning’s legend?”
